Jesse Haines

(b. July 22, 1893 - d. August 5, 1978)
|
| Knuckleballer Haines didn't make the big leagues
for good until he was age 26. However, he stuck around
until he was 45, winning 20 games three times and
finishing with 210 victories for the Cardinals, including
a no-hitter against the Braves in 1924. In 1927, he
racked up a 24-10 record, leading the NL with 25 complete
games and six shutouts. "Pop" had a career .571 winning
percentage and 209 complete games. |

The blank-backed cards measure 1-3/8" X 2-1/4" and display color drawings of athletes, which include 14 boxers and 26 baseball players. Cards are numbered in the lower-left corner. |
